Gameplay Walkthrough
Mercer is a unique style of tank that provides insane protection to his teammates as well as himself. Mercer acts as a bodyguard for any teammate, making him able to deeply protect core characters on the team (such as Revive or Human Shield characters) that can really take the edge off against massive attacks:
Rush
While Mercer definitely puts some damage pressure to an enemy, Mercer’s Rush really shines when it comes to its defensive properties. Mercer will apply Pain Split to himself and 1 teammate, splitting the damage dealt to either Mercer or his teammate. Additionally, Mercer will also grant himself and that teammate 50% Bonus HP, as well as an incredible +150% Defense for the same duration as Pain Split. This helps cover the Pain Split ally more directly, so even if they are traditionally a little more fragile, Mercer’s defensive boosts temporarily convert them into a mini-tank.
Active
Given that Mercer and his Pain Split teammate are likely going to be taking damage, this Active Skill grants 35% HP for 2 turns to a teammate, as well as provide Mercer with 35% AP. Additionally, the Cooldown is only 1 turn, allowing Mercer to use his Active Skill frequently. His Active Skill is also tuned to be used a lot more aggressively than most other characters, allowing him to be more reliable on a Defense team.
Specialist Skill
Since Mercer is going to both be taking damage as well as be a potential target to focus down, he is going to be in need of regular heals. Vitality is great passive way to help him offset that damage, and allows him to more regularly grants his Active Skill healing to his teammates instead.
Special Weapon
Mercer’s weapon effect allows him to receive 100% more HP when healed, which really helps Mercer stay alive to continue to protect his allies. This effect also works with Vitality, doubling the amount of passive healing Mercer receives each turn. Alternatively, you could re-craft for Absolute Defense to provide a difference source of damage mitigation for Mercer.
